Leather Hybrid World with Zippered Pocketstar rating 5GCJanuary 20, 2012I just received the Taxicat wallet today. From what I can tell, it's really of good quality. The leather is thin as advertised and it looks very slick. It's also thin enough that the whole package fit into the thin slot of my mailbox along with my regular mail. The magnetic clasp is also strong, which I like. Overall, the workmanship definitely pretty decent. I have no complaints save for the fact that the wallet cannot accomodate big banknotes. I use UK notes, and found to my disappointment that the larger notes don't fit. It's a pity as the wallet would be pretty much perfect otherwise. On hindsight, the world bi-fold wallet would be a better choice for those outside the US. The plastic cash divider is also rendered useless when the notes don't fit in anyway.

I know it's a man's wallet, but it's the only thing I could find that would fit into this new purse I love, yet didn't have all the bulk and snaps you have to undo every time you open it. It holds everything in a way that I can actually find it all, even coins! And I love that you can have 2 ID's showing as I have a Medical Power of Attorney card I was always afraid was going to get overlooked in an accident. Very reasonably priced, too.

Very disappointed as I really liked the normal material one and thought if I purchase the leather one, it'll last longer and better quality. Very cheap leather and the lining/sewing work is not really top notch (it looks like a novice's creation). Lot more work to be done bigskinny, please do some quality control and try to do better on the worksmanship! Big Skinny notes: Dear H/T, please give us a ring so we can replace it asap, it sounds like a defective one because our top-grain leather series has been compared to Coach wallets very favorably by journalists.

Kudos to BigSkinny for their awesome customer support! The manufacturing is impecable, the wallet itself is as thin as advertised and I'm almost fully satisfied. "Almost" because my huge ID card sadly doesn't fit in. The external zippered pocket for coins if definetly worth the extra dollar, saves me a good 10-20 seconds every time I go shopping.

LarkinDecember 23, 2010I bought this wallet at a street fair in Cambridge MA 18 months ago and it is great, both in terms of quality and functionality. In fact, 4 of my friends were so impressed that they also ordered this style. The leather is standing up very well, and my only complaint is that items sometimes slide partway out of the window pocket (it needs to be a tad deeper). I plan to order another one soon as a backup because they may no longer be making these when I eventually need a replacement!

The one that the seam escaped, had escaped their QC, during a busy time. They checked the replacement, which came very fast and doesn't have any issues. I expect I'll have my non defective one for a long time. Durability - Check.

WellmanJuly 4, 2010Pros: skinny, black on black logo, leather, zippered coin, etc. It had all the features I wanted in a wallet but durability. Cons: The inner seam on the card holders on the zippered coin part of the wallet have ripped, after only a few days usage. The wallet was not stuffed to capacity. About $2 worth of change has permanently left their shape/stretched, the leather of the coin section. An $8 velcro trifold from Hong Kong is more durable than this! This was my most wanted model for features/style, out of the four Big Skinny wallets and almost the most expensive and it has now been an expensive disappointment. I like the mini skinny with zipper and trifold better so far. Now I'm afraid to put coins in my super skinny zipper. Machines have a harder time reading my transit card, so I'm having to take it out of my wallet, even though every other kind of material previous kept the card further from the reader and worked fine. The wallet is still functional, even with the split seam on the inside and stretched coin circles on the zippered pouch. Most people aren't going to have the time, nor be observant enough to detect the flaws. Normally, I'd rate something I wouldn't buy again and wouldn't recommend at 2 stars. I am still using it, so I guess that's reason enough. I don't know if it is the leather blend, or the zippered pouch, so if someone is interested in this wallet, I'd say get it without the pouch or without the leather. Big Skinny notes: Since wallets are made by humans, there is bound to be a manufacturing flaw sometimes as this was the case where the stitching didn't catch the reverse material the right way. We've sent a replacement wallet to this customer immediately and remember that we are the only wallet company that warrantees their wallets for materials and workmanship! So problem quickly solved.
Leather Hybrid World with Zippered Pocketstar rating 5DeniseFebruary 14, 2010I did get the one with the zipper, but I don't generally carry my wallet in my pocket anyway so can't speak to snagging issues. Right now--in winter--it is in the chest pocket of my jacket, where it is sooooooo nice and thin. I couldn't even fit my last wallet in there, and if I had, I would have had such a huge bulge there. When it is warmer, it fits soooo much better in my purse or Timbuktu bag (depending on what I need to carry that day). Granted I've only had it a month or so, but the leather seems to be of decent quality and very soft. Hopefully it will last 5 or 10 years like my wallets in the past.

I bought new clothes with Christmas and this wallet and my pants have a whole now at the place where the zipper touches it. I am really sad for it for the pants and the wallet.

Just buying one now for my dad for his birthday in February.
